Yelp's Inaugural Ball 2008
Obama-mania hit Manhattan last night as yelpers--both Elite and non—strutted their swanky stuff at Country on Madison Avenue celebrating a new president in the White House and a new year for Yelp! Early birds Ki G and Chun L lunged towards the bar to snag the first of many Saaga Vodka’s Dirty Dicks distributed throughout the two floors of the expansive space. DJ’s Andrew & Andrew of East Village Radio had Stephanie M breaking out the “robot, booty bumping, other assorted ridonkulousness” and Mel F performing the in place booty shake all night. Not to be outdone, the scantily clad seductresses from Sugar Shake Burlesque worked up a sweat and got Jeremy G and Ethan C feeling All American. After hitting the coatcheck Cara A shot downstairs to down a Saaga “Barack Obama” while Natasha L lingered with our Barack O inDenisimo Photography’s Obamabooth (check out some photobooth escapades here!)
As the dancefloor was heating up, Jeff C slipped downstairs to munch on “parsnip puree, tuna tartlet, the swordfish skewer, confit, cheese, charcuterie” complimentary of Geoffrey Zakarian's kitchen at Country. Joining him in the Lifebooker & Spa Chinois “Change We Can Believe In” manicure room was Preethi C sipping on cocktails from the Indie Liquor Room next door. Another boozed up politico, Daniel P, camped out at the Castries Crème table while Melody H sampled tastes from Luna Sueño, LOFT Liqueurs, Kasteel Cru, Coole Swan, Domaine de Canton Ginger and Rhum Clement. After that alcoholic array everyone was surprised that despite nip slips and stair stumbles, no yelpers managed to knock over the delicately balanced acrobats from Imaginaerial who snuck out of the corners in red, white and blue! Ever the charitable yelper,Alyvia M celebrated the presidential inauguration with a hand-rolled cigar at the Little Cigar Factory Station downstairs after donating some hard-earned dough to the St. John’s Bread & Lifeteam.
In fact, yelpers donated enough cash to buy 15,000 hot, nutritious meals for the St. John’s Bread & Life Soup Kitchen in Brooklyn. Now that’s a change we can believe in!
Mardi Gras @ Bubble Lounge NYC
The International tradition of Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday” for you anglophiles, was taken to new heights this past Tuesday at Bubble Lounge in Tribeca as Yelp Elites arrived decked to the nines for some major masquerade madness. Yosh H and Daniel L scooted in out of the frigid February and grabbed their Champagne Taittinger flutes to get the party started while Chun L waltzed his beautiful date over to the gorgeous velvet sofas in the corner. Enter Cara A donning a pretty purple wig and Becca S sipping some IPO wine and bedazzled--knee injury be damned!Damaris P and Laura G sampled the free mini sliders, tuna tartar and mushroom sandwiches while nobody dared veto the Starr African Rum mojitos. Nobody could miss photog-king, Peter Ksnapping shots and double-fisting mighty fine Peroni beers in a pig-mask to boot!
Passport to Chelsea Launch Event
"All across the city locals were feeling a certain buzz in the air last night and a irresistible pull towards a little neighborhood on the Hudson that we call Chelsea. Stirring on 22nd street, at the slightly hidden but ever regal Chelsea Art Museum, Yelp Elites and Internet Week junkies gathered en masse to celebrate a neighborhood famous for culture, galleries, gorgeous men, brown stones and general fabulousness."

Snow Ball NYC
New Yorkers from Flatiron to Flushing to Flatbush came together on Thursday night to celebrate the end of 2010 with over 2,500 of their favorite folks at the historic 69th Regiment Armory. Whether you're feeling silly, star-struck, or slightly hungover, we can all agree that it was seriously sassy holiday spectacular.
Kicking things off with edibles from 25 of New York's nicest (and naughtiest) eateries, we saw some savory samples from Hill Country Chicken, Scottadito Osteria Toscana, Mercadito, L'asso,Smorgas Chef, Energy Kitchen, Slice, Qdoba, Ovelia, Meze Grill, Mama Mexico, Mooncake Foods, Fat Radish, Palo Santo, Luke's Lobster, Mehtaphor and Graffiti Food & Wine Bar. Whew, say that five times fast! And when dreams of sugar plums popped in their heads, yelpers could indulge in a variety of sweet treats courtest of Nine Cakes, Intoxicating Confections, Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, WannaHavaCookie and Spot Dessert Bar. From shrimp to proscuitto rolls, hummus to fried chicken and Peppermint mini cones dipped in chocolate to cheesecake spoons ... it was the perfect place to pack on those winter pounds....

It's the first building to reach 100 floors and the only one to be climbed by a 24ft ape from Skull Island. While the tallest building in our fair metropolis is a destination for visitors from all walks of the world, the Empire State Building is also a source of pride for locals alike. And in true NYC fashion, last Thursday we turned back the clock in a nod to the days of art deco with a classic cocktail party hosted by King Kong himself!
